Anesthetics

Picture
For many pet owners, the prospect of having their loved one under general anesthesia can be a nerve-racking proposition at best. We understand your concerns and we do everything in our power to minimize those risks. Along with a thorough physical exam, pre-anesthetic blood work is a powerful component of minimizing risks associated with a general anesthetic and we strongly recommend this be done.

While your pet is under anesthesia, he/she will be monitored by a trained, experienced and fully licensed Veterinary Technician using aids such as a Doppler Blood Pressure Monitor (which allows us to measure blood pressure as well as heart rate), ECG (electrocardiogram), pulse oximetry, and temperature probes. By far, the best tools that we have are the skills that the Veterinarians have developed over many years experience in dealing with pets under anesthesia.

In some instances, if we feel that it is in the best interests of your pet, we may recommend a Board Certified Veterinary Anesthesiologist to come in and administer/monitor the anesthetic.
